The sun managed to come out after a few days of rain and we were able to welcome musicians, polo players and fans to the ‘The Golden Stone Years’. The day started off with an action-packed polo match between Centtrip and Auctus with Centtrip winning 5 to 2 in an action packed match.
Supporting this were some amazing classic cars, and as the music fans arrived the concert started giving those who were there more than seven hours of non-stop music celebrating the late Brian Jones who was the founding member of The Rolling Stones. It was the brainchild of Donovan and Linda Leitch who wanted to celebrate the life and iconic music of Brian in this, the 50th year since his passing.
Those playing included Donovan, Julie Felix, The Stranglers, The Waterboys, Steve Harley, Lola Lennox, Earl Slick, Glen Matlock and many others. Brian’s grandson Joolz Jones also appeared. To top it all off, Kenney Jones himself took to the stage with his Jones Gang group
The event supported two charities – The Racehorse Sanctuary and the David lynch Foundation.
